I love ice cream. And I don’t like sugar-induced stomach aches. It’s often what I’m left with when I partake in ice cream consumption. So my go-to when the craving hits for that cool, creamy treat is whipping up a serving of ‘nice-cream.’

Essentially, it’s a frozen banana-based sorbet. You can make all kinds of flavors. Today I’m sharing my Mixed Berry Sorbet version.

Rich in antioxidants and fiber, this dairy-free sorbet is a delightful treat. It’s simple to make and ready in minutes!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 frozen banana (tip: I keep a bag of ripened bananas that are peeled and chopped or broken in halves in my freezer pretty much at all times)

  • ¼ cup – ½ cup mixed frozen berries

  • ¼ cup almond milk

  • 1-2 teaspoons chia seeds

  • Optional: 1 scoop vanilla or flavorless protein powder (I used @primalkitchenfoods Vanilla Collagen Fuel).

DIRECTIONS

1. Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender

2. Blend until creamy. If using a VitaMix, press the contents with the tamper. Otherwise, periodically scrape the sides of the blender to ensure it all blends evenly (although I’m personally not opposed to chunks of berry 🙌)

3. Top with a few berries, toasted coconut, or any of your favorite toppings. If you prefer it sweeter, drizzle some honey on top!
